ABOUT CREATIVEMORNINGS

In 2008, Tina Roth Eisenberg (Swissmiss) started CreativeMornings out of a desire for an ongoing, accessible event for New York’s creative community. The concept was simple: breakfast and a short talk one Friday morning a month. Every event would be free of charge and open to anyone.

Today, attendees gather in cities around the world to enjoy fresh coffee, friendly people, and an international array of breakfast foods. Volunteer hosts and their team members organize local chapters that not only celebrate a city’s creative talent, but also promote an open space to connect with like-minded individuals. The growing archive of past breakfast talks is humbling. From design legends to hometown heroes, speakers are selected by each chapter based on a global theme

Over the past couple of years, I have become engaged with the CreativeMornings Dubai chapter on a couple of different fronts. Initially, I undertook a self-directed photo portrait assignment to capture an image of each speaker after their morning conversations. Initially, I was just shooting images with my iPhone but decided to bring my real camera (Sony A7R II) paired with my Zeiss Batis 85mm lens and stepped-up my commitment to shooting dynamic and engaging portraits of our speakers. I have since taken on responsibilities to care for the social media accounts for the CreativeMornings Dubai chapter, as can be seen over on their Instagram, Facebook and Twitter channels.

I am hopeful that once we get beyond the current pandemic, we will again be meeting in person as opposed to via Zoom and I will pick-up where I Ieft off in regard to my monthly early morning portrait sessions. Thank heavens for beautiful window light!
