Not so long ago, life seemed so easy, so normal. Yes, life had it’s usual struggles, but nothing like the past year we have all tried to survive. Not so long ago, hopping in the car to Add Dhabi for a day exploring the beautiful Sheikh Zayed Mosque was just a quick drive between emirates. Today, we are stuck with regular COVID tests and limited access to all that our old lives used to hold. If COVID can teach us anything, it is not to take the simple things in life for granted as those simple things (as we now know) can so easily be taken away. Trying to stay thankful for all that life offers while also trying to manage with all that life offers.
Turning the page on the past, looking to the future
For all of humanity, please, please, please let the new year be vastly better than the past. We have lost so many of our fellow humans over the past year, those of us who have survived have done so while the world around us has continued to change beyond recognition. Please, let 2021 be a year where we turn the corner. Please let 2021 be a year where we find workable solutions to our differences and indeed be a year where science and great new leadership lead us out of this terrible pandemic. With hope in the future being better than the past, we take a deep breath as we start anew.
Dare I say it… Happy New Year!
Ride Dubai 2020
Despite my crack of dawn, 4:50 AM check-in time, I was so happy to be able to take part in the 2020 Dubai Ride presented by DP World. This was part of the Dubai Fitness Challenge 30x30 and was the most unique community ride in the history of Dubai. On the morning of 20 November, I along with thousands of other bike owners was invited to cycle up and down the iconic Sheikh Zayed Road here in Dubai.
I strapped my trusty Insta 360 OneX to my Bergamont mountain bike and captured various passes of my loops up and down Sheikh Zayed Road. I’m quite happy with the short video I put together with the footage and happy to have this as a permanent memory of this special ride.
I'm so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers
The year continues to crawl by as we are bombarded with the ongoing terrible news of how the pandemic is affecting the world. There is hope, hope that we will soon have new leadership. Serious leadership. Maybe, just maybe, we will then have a better captain running the good ship USA and that the new leadership will find a slow but steady way to navigate out of our current state of COVID and other affairs. We all need things to improve. We all need the hate and division to end and we all need some glimmer of hope off in the distance that allows us to believe that things will, in time, get better. Normalcy seems like forever ago. I am hoping that we will have our lives back into some state of normalcy at some point in the coming year. Here’s hoping!
